Invest in the Arts
Since 1979, COA has brought hundreds of globally acclaimed artists in music, theater, performing arts, storytelling, literature, and visual arts into East Greenwich schools via hands-on, interactive workshops and
assemblies. During the last 40 years, COA has reached over one million students through 400 different cultural arts programs in all six East Greenwich public schools with current enrollment at over 2500 students.
At the start of each school year, COA sends a donation appeal letter to the families in East Greenwich public schools. The total funds earned from private/family donations average approximately 45% of COA’s total programming revenue. Since the late 1980s, COA has relied upon each school’s Parent-Teacher group to make an annual contribution to COA, and 100% of these funds goes directly into cultural arts programming/assemblies at each school within the district. Lastly, COA depends upon the financial support provided by the East Greenwich School District to cover key operational and administrative expenses.
From the desk of the Principal...
Thank you to Danielle Salisbury, the new director of COA for bringing an amazing assembly to our students in October. Grades 4 and 5 watched the Beelzebubs, an acapella group from Tufts (while our grade 3 students were on their fieldtrip). On November 8th, all grades will enjoy a performance with LADAMA, a Latin American Women singing group. Thank you COA for bringing us such wonderful assemblies!
Warmest Regards, Beth Cauley, Principal at Hanaford Elementary School
Language Teacher at Cole Middle
"Thank you so much for organizing today's performance by LADAMA! They are so talented. Everyone had so much fun and learned so much!"
"I just wanted to say THANK YOU for such a fun, well-organized, positive workshop day! I really enjoyed spreading the “gospel of good vocal health” to so many bright young performers, and meeting my talented colleagues as well. I look forward to seeing what COA does next and I hope I can be a part of it!
"COA has enhanced our curriculum by giving the students a live production experience. The groups that have come to Cole for a workshop or those that have performed on stage have provided the students with an authentic learning experience. Thank you for the assistance that COA has been able to provide Cole Middle School".
